Frequently Asked Questions
I have had a problem entering the job detail. Where can I get some help?
There is a guided tour with step by step information for new employers to follow or you can contact JOB Australia for further specific instruction, if required.
A job that we previously listed with JOB Australia has now been filled. What do I do?
Rather than deleting the job detail from the JOB Australia site, you can take it off-line at any time and then reactivate it if and when the same position becomes available again in the future. In this way the job will no longer be published live on the site, but can be stored within the system and easily reactivated, thereby saving you the time and effort of entering the detail again.
The Company I represent has multiple locations/properties (Hotel Group, Pastoral Company etc.), each of which has job vacancies. How do I register the Company?
In these instances there is only a need to register the Company once, identifying a key person as the central contact for a JOB Australia administration (not job seekers) point of view only. Once that registration is verified by JOB Australia you will have the opportunity to list any number of job vacancies in the jobs network and identify trading names, the location and individual contacts at each property for job seekers to contact. This is important because job seekers can choose to search the network using job type, commencement month and or location (State/Territory) options.
If I want to list a particular job to be available in more than one location at or around the same time (i.e. a National vehicle rental company) what do I do?
Complete and save the job listing for one of the positions (location) and automatically return to your company account page and then activate the Add a new job listing link, click on the Use an existing Job Listing to pre-fill this form option at the top of the page that automatically completes the new job listing template for the selected existing job. You then only need to change the location and contact person (if different) for each subsequent job location.
How long in advance of a job becoming available can I list a job with JOB Australia?
The JOB Australia job network accepts listings of job opportunities up to 18-months in advance. We encourage Australian Employers to list jobs with the maximum amount of notice as many overseas working holidaymakers are often planning their travels and making decisions about where and when to go around their knowledge of work availability.
When a job seeker contacts me about a job vacancy before they arrive in Australia what do I do?
It is very important to acknowledge the enquiry promptly and then up to you to decide about how to manage the enquiry. Depending upon the circumstances, the options can range from a commitment to interview the prospective job seeker in person or by telephone after their arrival in Australia through to actually offering them the position before they leave their country of origin.
Will job seekers have an Australian tax file number (TFN)?
JOB Australia provides advice to all job seekers members about how to apply for TFN after arrival in Australia. In addition, JOB Australia opens an Australian bank account for those members who purchase a Starter Package.
Do I have to give JOB Australia exclusive rights to list a particular job vacancy?
No, you should view JOB Australia as an additional and valuable communication channel and one that is increasing the distribution and awareness of the job opportunity as well as the promotion of your business in the international marketplace.
Will working holiday makers have a good command of the English language?
Apart from those who come from countries where English is the first language, the answer is generally yes, as it is studied as a second or third language, especially in continental Europe, Asia and Japan. One of the strong motivations for young people to come to Australia is to improve their use of the English language. It is perfectly in order for you to ask job seekers about the level of their English language competency. One of the added benefits about employing working holiday makers from overseas is that they often have three or four languages, which can be of a distinct advantage, especially in the tourism and hospitality industry sector.
Is there a guarantee that I will be contacted by international working holidaymaker interested in the jobs that I post in the JOB Australia jobs network?
No, but JOB Australia guarantees to actively promote the online jobs network in all of the international countries where Australia has a reciprocal working holiday visa agreement, but the decision to select specific jobs and Australian employers is entirely made by job seekers based on the information and images uploaded into the jobs network by employers.
